Data Sources For Our Area Map
The area map and local data on our pages use official UK statistics. This page lists each source, how up to date it is and the licence it is used under.
Where Each Figure Comes From
- House prices
- ONS 'Housing prices in your area' (UK House Price Index), July 2026 provisional, published 16 September 2026. Yearly averages and long-run charts use the UK House Price Index. Contains HM Land Registry data © Crown copyright and database right 2026, licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0. Latest months are provisional, and prices are cash prices, not adjusted for inflation.
- School results
- DfE via ONS Explore local statistics: GCSEs (and equivalent) in English and maths by age 19, academic year 2024/25. Figures are for the whole local authority.
- Crime
- police.uk 'Compare your area' (source ONS): all recorded crime per 1,000 residents, year ending March 2026; Cheshire councils not included.
- Boundaries
- Borough outlines are based on ONS boundary data (Open Government Licence v3.0), simplified for the map.
- Commute, homes and green space
- Commute times are approximate journeys to Manchester city centre at normal times. The notes on homes, who an area suits and green space are our general guide, not statistics.
How To Read The Figures
Most figures are for the whole borough or council area, so they give a feel for the wider area rather than one street. House prices are averages across all types of home. If you spot a figure that looks wrong, email Darrin and we will check it against the source.
