About CMR Relocation, The Removal Firm Darrin Built
About CMR Relocation: Darrin built this removal firm in Altrincham in 2011, after years working in removals for other people. Today we move homes and offices from our own depot in Broadheath.
Our story
How Darrin Started A Removal Firm In Altrincham
This page is about CMR Relocation: who we are, where we work from and how we run a move. If you are about to trust us with your home or your office, you should know that much before you book.
The story starts with Darrin. He worked in removals for years before he set up on his own. Over that time he saw what made a move go well, and what made it go wrong.
In 2011 he started CMR Relocation, here in Altrincham. The idea was simple. Plan every job properly, turn up when you say you will, and treat each house or office as if it were your own. That is still how the business works today.
We are still a small, steady team. Darrin runs the business and stays close to the work. When you call about a move, you speak to the people who will plan it and carry it out.

An operator licence matters more than many people think. Any firm running goods vehicles over a set weight needs one. To keep it, the firm has to look after its vehicles, keep records and use qualified drivers. You can ask any removal company for its licence number. Ours is above.
Our base
Our Broadheath Depot On Stuart Road
In the early years the office was at Progress House in Altrincham. Today everything runs from our depot on Stuart Road in Broadheath, on the north side of the town. It sits just off George Richards Way, close to the A56.
Having our own depot makes a real difference to you. Our vans and lorries park there. Our crates, blankets and floor protection are kept there. Our containerised storage is there too, so your things stay with the same people who moved them.
The depot also puts us in a good spot for the whole region. From Broadheath, the A56 runs north towards Sale and Stretford and south towards the M56. Our crew can reach South Manchester and Cheshire quickly, and the rest of Greater Manchester is an easy run up the motorway.
If you want to see where your things will be kept, you are welcome to visit. Just call first, so someone is there to meet you. Directions are on our contact page for the Broadheath depot.
What we do
The Work Our Team Does Every Week
Most of our work is moving people's homes. A large part is moving businesses. The services around both grew out of what customers asked us for.
How we work
How Our Crew Runs A Move From Start To Finish
Every job starts with a conversation. We ask what you are moving, where from and where to. We ask about stairs, lifts, parking and anything heavy or fragile. Then we price that move on its own. There is no price list, because no two moves are the same, and the quote is free.
Next comes the plan. We pick the right vehicle and the right number of people. For a house, that means knowing which rooms go first and where the beds go. For an office, it means working from your floor plan and your patching plan, so each desk, phone and screen ends up in the right place. Our office space planning service covers that part in detail.
On the day, floors come first. Our crew lays runners on carpets and film on the stairs before a single box moves. Furniture is wrapped in blankets. Every box carries a label for its room, and often for the wall it goes against.
- Floor runners and stair film before anything is carried
- Room labels on every box, and every desk numbered on office moves
- With our packing service, beds rebuilt so you can sleep in them on the first night
- Crates for offices delivered at least ten days before the move
When the last item is in, we check each room with you. If something is in the wrong place, we move it there and then.
What we believe
The Values Behind CMR Relocation
These are not slogans on a wall. They are the habits Darrin expects on every job.
Plan before we lift
A move goes well when the thinking is done early. We would rather ask one more question on the phone than find a problem at the door.
Straight prices
We quote each move on its own and say what is included. If a quote does not include packing or storage, it says so.
Care for the building
Your old home and your new one both get floor protection. Office lifts, corridors and doorframes get the same care.
A team you can reach
You deal with the people doing the work, not a call centre. Darrin and the team are a phone call away.
Reuse first
What Happens To Furniture You No Longer Want
Moves often leave things behind. An office may be swapping old desks for new ones. A family may be downsizing. We do not want good furniture going to landfill.
So we offer it to local charities and schools first. What nobody can use, we break down into metal, wood and laminate so each part can be recycled. Old computers and other electrical kit are disposed of under the WEEE rules. Our office clearance and recycling service explains how this works for a business.
Office furniture is a big part of the business
We also sell and fit office furniture, as well as moving it. That came from customers asking for one firm to handle the lot: buy the new desks, build them, take the old ones away and move the team in. Business customers we have moved include AVEVA, Meridian Healthcomms and Z+F. You can read how those jobs went in our office relocation case studies.
Where we work
The Towns We Know Best Around Altrincham
Most of our moves are in South Manchester and Cheshire, close to home. That means Altrincham, Sale, Hale, Bramhall, Alderley Edge and the towns around them. We know the narrow roads, the busy high streets and where a lorry can and cannot park.
We also cover all ten Greater Manchester boroughs, from Wigan and Bolton to Oldham and Stockport. Our map of the towns we cover shows every place on our patch, with house prices and school results for each one. For a first look at a town close to the depot, see our page on moving home in Sale or moving in Hale.
Further afield, we move people to Europe. France, Spain, Germany and the Netherlands are the usual routes. Our own vehicles handle the UK side, and trusted partners take care of the Channel crossing and onward delivery.
Before you book
Read Reviews, Then Talk To Darrin
The best way to judge a removal firm is by what its customers say. You can read reviews of our work on Trustpilot, and our customer reviews page explains where to find them. If you are still comparing firms, our guide to choosing a removal company lists the questions worth asking, including the ones above about licences and company details.
