Reuse comes first

An Office Clearance That Finds New Homes Before The Skip

Most office furniture is thrown out long before it is worn out. A desk that no longer fits your new layout can still serve a school for years. That is why every office clearance in Manchester that we run starts with one question: who could use this next?

Good furniture goes to local charities and schools first. Only then do we break the rest down into metal, wood and laminate, so each part can be recycled on its own. Computers, screens and other electrical items are handled under the WEEE rules. You end up with an empty space and far less waste.

  • Desks, chairs, storage and meeting tables cleared
  • Good pieces offered to local charities and schools
  • Everything else split into metal, wood and laminate
  • IT and electrical items disposed of under WEEE rules
  • The space left clear, with cables and packaging gone

CMR Relocation has cleared and moved offices since 2011 from our depot in Broadheath, Altrincham. Clearance often sits alongside a full business relocation, but we also clear offices on their own.

The order we work in

Reuse, Recycle, Dispose: The Clearance Order We Follow

How it runs

How An Office Clearance Runs From First Call To Empty Floor

A small clearance can be done in a morning. A full building takes more planning, but the steps do not change.

  1. 1

    We Agree The List

You tell us what stays, what moves and what goes. A walk round or a few photos is usually enough.

  2. 2

    We Find New Homes

We check which pieces are fit to reuse and line them up for local charities and schools.

  3. 3

    We Clear The Space

Our crew carries everything out, takes apart the pieces nobody can use, and sorts the IT.

  4. 4

    We Hand It Back

The floor is left clear. We walk round with you so nothing on the list is missed.

Your part and ours

What You Do And What We Do On A Clearance Day

A clearance goes faster when the list is clear and the building is ready. Here is how we split the work.

Your Part

  • Tag or list the items to keep, so nothing is cleared by mistake
  • Empty desk drawers and cupboards of papers and personal items
  • Agree with your IT provider how data on old drives will be wiped or destroyed
  • Book the lift and loading bay with your building manager

Our Part

  • Plan the crew, the vehicles and the order of work
  • Protect floors, doors and lifts before anything moves
  • Carry out, take apart and sort every item by where it is going
  • Leave with all of it, including cables, packaging and broken bits

Computers and electricals

WEEE-Compliant IT Disposal When You Clear The Office

Old computers, screens, printers and phone handsets cannot go in a skip. They count as waste electrical and electronic equipment, known as WEEE, and UK rules say how they must be handled. We dispose of them in line with those rules.

Data is the part that needs your attention first. A drive in an old PC may still hold client records or staff details. Before we collect, agree with your IT team or provider how that data will be removed or destroyed. Then tell us which machines are ready to go.

Some kit is not waste at all. If screens and docks are moving to your new office, our own crew can disconnect, pack and reconnect them. See our IT relocation service for how that works. Equipment that travels is packed on cage trolleys or in IT crates, and the rest is set aside for disposal.

What Changes The Cost Of Clearing An Office

We quote every office clearance in Manchester on its own, and the quote is free. These are the things that make the biggest difference.

FactorWhy it matters
How much there isMore items mean a bigger crew, more vehicles or more time.
How much is reusableGood furniture going to charities and schools needs careful handling, not breaking down.
Taking apartBench desks and tall storage take time to break down safely.
IT and electricalsWEEE items are sorted and handled apart from the furniture.
AccessA goods lift and loading bay are quicker than stairs or a small lift.
TimingEvening and weekend work suits busy buildings but may cost more.

Avoiding problems

Clearance Problems We See, And How We Stop Them

Most clearance mistakes come from rushing. A little planning stops all of these.

The Wrong Items Cleared

We work from an agreed list and ask you to tag what stays. If in doubt, we ask before it leaves.

Data Left On Old Drives

We remind you to sort data before we collect, and keep IT apart from the rest of the load.

Damage To The Building

Floors, lifts and door frames are protected before we start, which matters if you want your deposit back.

Clearing Too Late

Leave the clearance to the last day of the lease and there is no slack. We help you set the date early.

Is this for you

Who Books A Commercial Clearance With Us

Our clearance work suits any business that has more furniture than it needs. Common reasons include:

  • Moving to a smaller office and leaving spare desks behind
  • Refitting a floor with new furniture and clearing the old
  • Closing a branch or ending a lease
  • Emptying a store room of broken chairs and old IT
  • Landlords clearing a floor left full by the last tenant

If new furniture is going in after the clearance, we can supply and fit it too. Our furniture supply and fitting service covers desks, chairs and storage. If you are not sure yet what to keep, we can hold items in sealed containers at our Broadheath storage depot while you decide.

Planning ahead

Fitting A Clearance Into Your Move Or Lease End

Work back from the date the space must be empty. Leave time to find homes for good furniture, because charities and schools need notice to collect or receive it. If the clearance is part of a move, plan it for after the furniture you are keeping has gone. That way nothing you need is caught up in the clear-out. Our checklist for business moves shows where the clearance fits in the wider plan.

For packing what you keep, our crate hire delivers lidded and hanging-file crates at least ten days before the move. If you need extra hands to carry and sort, our move-day labour crews can help. We clear offices across Greater Manchester and Cheshire, including Stockport and Altrincham, close to our depot.

To book, call Darrin or the team on 0161 478 3639 or email Darrin. Read what our customers say on our Trustpilot reviews page, or see past office jobs in our case studies.

FAQs

Clearing An Office: Your Questions Answered

Something else on your mind about this service? Ring the depot and ask.

Where does our old office furniture go?

Pieces in good condition go to local charities and schools first. What they cannot use is taken apart and split into metal, wood and laminate, so each material can be recycled. Very little is thrown away as mixed waste.

Can you take old computers, printers and phones?

Yes. We dispose of IT equipment in line with the WEEE rules, the UK regulations for waste electrical and electronic equipment. Before we collect, agree with your IT team or provider how the data on any drives will be removed or destroyed.

Can you clear the office and move us in the same job?

Yes, and it often saves time. We can move the furniture you are keeping to your new office, clear the pieces you are leaving behind, and hand the old space back empty.

Do you clear part of an office, or only whole floors?

Both. We clear a single meeting room, a store cupboard full of old chairs, or a whole building. The process is the same. Only the size of the crew and the time on site change.

Will you leave the space ready to hand back to the landlord?

We take out everything on the agreed list, including loose cables, packaging and broken pieces, and leave the floor clear. Repairs, decoration and deep cleaning are outside what we do, so book those separately if your lease asks for them.
