Our Closest Neighbour In Trafford

No town on our map is nearer than Timperley. Our yard is on Stuart Road in Broadheath, the industrial district that sits between Altrincham and Timperley, close to Navigation Road. Timperley village, around Stockport Road and the Old Hall, is about 3 km away in a straight line. On a normal morning the crew is parked outside your home a few minutes after setting off.

Being this close changes how a move works. We can look round your home at short notice, drop off boxes and crates the same week, and come back for a forgotten item without it becoming a big job. If the day runs late, the lorry is never far from home.

Timperley itself is a large, settled suburb of about 11,000 people, stretching from the A56 in the west to the Stockport Road roundabout in the east. Removals in Timperley are mostly family homes, with plenty of short moves across Trafford.

Homes in Timperley

Inter-War Semis, Red-Brick Cottages And The Homes In Between

Most of Timperley was built from the 1930s onwards, after the railway made it easy to reach Manchester. Long roads of semi-detached houses with bay windows, drives and back gardens make up the heart of the suburb. Older red-brick cottages survive in pockets, the remains of the farming village Timperley was before the houses came.

A typical Timperley semi is easy to reach, but it often holds more than people think. Before quoting, we ask about:

  • The loft, which in a 1930s semi is often full
  • The garage and the shed, with tools, bikes and garden furniture
  • Extensions and knocked-through rooms, which change how big pieces move
  • Narrow original staircases with a turn at the top

The answers decide the size of the crew and the lorry. A survey takes us very little time in Timperley, so we are always happy to come and look.

Semis with drives are the backbone of the suburb, and most are simple for the lorry to reach.

Getting around

Trams, The Canal And The Navigation Road Crossing

Two tram stops

Timperley stop on Park Road and Navigation Road stop are both on the Altrincham line, with trams into the city centre and a park and ride at Navigation Road.

The level crossing

Navigation Road has a level crossing used by trams and trains. The barriers come down often, so we time the run to avoid long waits.

The Bridgewater Canal

Opened through Timperley in 1776. Homes near the towpath can be reached only from one side, which we check before the day.

Main roads

The A56 to the west and the A560 Stockport Road to the east carry most of the traffic, and both are busy at school and rush hours.

Trafford Council rules

Parking A Removal Lorry On A Timperley Street

In most of Timperley there is nothing to arrange. The lorry parks on the drive or on the road outside, and the crew loads from there. Parking only needs thought near the village shops, on the main roads and close to the tram stops, where yellow lines are common.

If the lorry has to stop on a restriction, Trafford Council issues a parking dispensation, and house removals are one of the reasons it lists. The council asks for at least three days' notice so it can check the spot is safe, and it charges a daily fee per vehicle. You send its form to the parking services team, and it sends a payment link once the request is approved.

For a move on a busy road such as Stockport Road, we usually suggest an early start, before the school run. A quieter street also means a quicker load.

Local life

What Timperley Has On The Doorstep

Timperley keeps a village feel. The Old Hall on Stockport Road, a Grade II listed house from the late 1700s, is now a pub, and the public golf course wraps around it. Close by is the site of a medieval moat, first recorded in 1270. In the village, a bronze statue of Frank Sidebottom, the papier-mâché-headed comic who always said he came from Timperley, was unveiled there in 2013.

Families are well served for schools. Wellington School and Altrincham College are both in Timperley, and Trafford's grammar schools, including the Altrincham boys' and girls' grammars, are close by. Our guide to school places when you move house explains how Trafford's dates work.

Commuting is easy too. The tram from Timperley reaches the middle of Manchester in under half an hour, and the M56 and M60 are both a few minutes' drive away. It is why so many people move here from Sale, Chorlton and the city.

How we work

Short Local Moves And Full House Moves From Timperley

A lot of our Timperley work is local: from a semi to a bigger house in Hale, from a family home to a bungalow in Sale, or from one Timperley road to the next. The process is the same as any move. We survey, agree a written quote and turn up on time with blankets, runners and tools.

Optional extras are listed on the quote. If you add our packing service, our crew packs the house, takes beds and wardrobes apart and puts them back up at the new home. If not, we move everything as it stands, wrapped and protected.

CMR Relocation has moved homes from Broadheath since 2011 and holds goods vehicle operator licence OC1109721. Darrin runs the company and is on 0161 478 3639, Monday to Saturday, 8:30am to 5:30pm. You can read our customer reviews before you decide.

FAQs

Timperley Moving Questions, Answered

Moving in or around Timperley? Ask us anything about the move.

How close is your depot to Timperley?

Very close. Our depot is on Stuart Road in Broadheath, which borders Timperley. Timperley village is about 3 km away in a straight line, so the lorry can be outside your house within minutes of leaving the yard.

Do I need a parking dispensation in Timperley?

Usually not, because most Timperley homes have a drive or a quiet road outside. If the lorry has to stop on a yellow line, Trafford Council issues a parking dispensation for house removals. It asks for at least three days' notice and charges a daily fee.

Is a move within Timperley worth booking a removal company for?

For most people, yes. A move round the corner still means every piece of furniture carried, wrapped and placed. Because we are so close, short local moves cost less time in the lorry, and the quote reflects the real size of the job.

Can you move just a few items, like a sofa and a bed?

Yes. Small jobs are easy for us to fit in because the depot is close. Tell us what needs to go and any stairs or tight turns, and we will quote for that alone.

Can you store things for us if our Timperley purchase is delayed?

Yes. Our sealed container storage is at the Broadheath depot, a few minutes from Timperley. We collect on your moving-out day, keep everything safe and deliver when your keys come through. There is no minimum term.
