Removals In Hyde, From Gee Cross To Flowery Field
Planning removals in Hyde? Our crew moves SK14 homes from Gee Cross to Flowery Field, with the route, parking and packing sorted before the day.
Hyde, Tameside
A Hyde Move Starts With The Street You Live On
Our removals in Hyde start with one simple question: what is your street like? Hyde is a town of mill-era terraces, solid semis and newer estates, spread over the slopes between the River Tame and Werneth Low. The street outside your door shapes the whole day. It decides which vehicle we send, where it parks and how far our crew carries each box.
We are CMR Relocation, and our depot is at Broadheath in Altrincham, on the other side of Greater Manchester. That is no barrier. Hyde is a short run on the motorway for us, and we plan each SK14 move as carefully as one round the corner from the depot.
This page sets out what we have learned to check in Hyde. It covers the streets and the hills, the parking, the transport links and the services that suit the homes here. If you just want a price, you can ask us to price your Hyde move now.

Hyde Neighbourhoods And What Each One Means For The Lorry
Hyde is not one place but a set of old villages that grew together around the mills. Each part brings its own small challenge on moving day.
| Area | Typical homes | What we plan for |
|---|---|---|
| Town centre | Terraces and flats close to the market and Clarendon Square | Yellow lines, loading bays and shoppers on foot |
| Gee Cross | Older cottages and family homes on the rising ground | Steeper lanes and tighter turns towards Werneth Low |
| Newton | Rows of terraces near the Glossop rail line | Cars parked on both sides of narrow roads |
| Flowery Field | Terraces and semis to the north of the centre | Short front yards and steps up to the door |
| Godley | Semis and newer houses on the eastern side | Cul-de-sacs where a big lorry needs room to turn |
| Hattersley | Houses and flats on the estate built in the 1960s | Stairs, shared entrances and longer carries to the kerb |
None of this is a reason to worry. It is simply what we look at when we plan house removals in Hyde, so the right people and the right vehicle turn up at your door.
Parking and access
Parking A Removal Lorry On A Hyde Street
Parking is the part of a move most people forget about until the morning. In Hyde, a few minutes of planning saves an hour on the day.
No residents' zone in Hyde
Tameside Council runs residents' parking zones in Ashton, Denton, Droylsden, Mossley and Stalybridge. Hyde is not on its current list, so most streets have no permit to worry about.
Yellow lines still apply
The council's own advice is plain: do not park on double yellow lines at any time, and check the time plate before you stop on a single line. We plan around them, not across them.
Loading bays have rules
Near the shops, loading bays can only be used for loading, and only outside the restricted times shown on the sign. We check those times before we book your slot.
A word with the neighbours
On tight terraced streets the best space is often a neighbour's. A friendly note a day or two before the move usually frees up the kerb outside your door.
If your road is too narrow for the lorry, we bring a smaller van to shuttle between your door and the main road. You will know the plan before the day, so nothing is left to chance.
Getting there
From Broadheath To Hyde By The M60 And M67
Hyde sits about 20 km from our Broadheath depot in a straight line. By road it is further, but the route is simple. We head round the M60 through Stockport to Denton, then pick up the M67, which runs right past the town.
That motorway link is one reason Hyde suits people who work across the region. The M67 feeds straight onto the M60, so the airport, Trafford Park and the south of the city are all within reach by car.
Hyde is also well served by rail. Hyde Central and Hyde North sit on the line that loops between Manchester Piccadilly and Rose Hill Marple. Flowery Field, Newton for Hyde, Godley and Hattersley are on the Glossop line into Piccadilly. If you are new to the area, that spread of stations means few homes in Hyde are far from a train.
For you, the route matters for one reason: timing. We leave early, so our crew is at your door when we said we would be. On the way back, we know which junctions back up, and we plan around the school run where we can.
Who moves here
Why People Choose Hyde, And Why They Leave
Hyde gives you more house for the money than much of south Manchester. That draws first-time buyers into the terraces and young families into the semis. People also come for the green space. Werneth Low Country Park rises above the town, with the Hyde war memorial on its top and wide views over the plain. Hyde Park sits closer to the centre.
Others move out of Hyde to be nearer work in the city, or to find a bigger garden in Cheshire. Some downsize from a family semi in Godley to a flat closer to the shops. Each kind of move needs a different plan. A one-bedroom terrace may be done in a morning. A four-bedroom house in Gee Cross with a loft full of boxes is a full day, and sometimes two.
The Peak Forest Canal also runs through Hyde, finished back in 1800. You will find canal-side homes along its banks. If yours backs onto the towpath, tell us which side the road is on, so we can plan the carry properly.

The Help Hyde Movers Ask For Most
Most moves in Hyde are full house moves, but plenty of people only need part of what we do. Pick the help that fits.
How we work
What Our Crew Does On A Hyde Moving Day
The day starts with floor protection. Our crew lays runners on carpets and film on the stairs before any furniture moves. Terraced houses often have steep, narrow stairs, so we take doors off hinges or strip down beds when that is the safer way.
We wrap furniture in clean blankets and load the lorry in a set order. Heavy items go on first, near the front. Boxes are stacked by room, so they come off in the order you need them. At your new home, each box goes to the room on its label.
- Beds put back together that night when you book our packing service
- Fragile items packed in paper, one piece at a time
- Doors taken off their hinges where the stairs are tight
- Darrin or the office on the phone if anything changes
If you want to do some of the work yourself, our tips on packing a house explain how to box up a kitchen. The week-by-week house checklist helps you plan the last month.

Moving Between Hyde And The Rest Of Tameside
Many Hyde moves are short hops inside the borough. People move up the hill to homes in Stalybridge, or across to Ashton-under-Lyne and its tram terminus. Others head west to Droylsden for the tram into the city; our Droylsden page covers that side. To the south, our Marple guide explains the canal town over the border in Stockport.
Wherever you are going, the full list of towns is on the map of every area we cover. Not sure how to compare firms? Read how to choose a removal firm first, or see what customers say on our Trustpilot reviews page.

Moving House In Hyde: What People Ask Us
Moving in or around Hyde? Ask us anything about the move.
Do I need a parking permit for a removal lorry in Hyde?
Most streets in Hyde have no residents' parking scheme on Tameside Council's current list, so a permit is not usually the issue. Yellow lines, loading bays and bus routes near the town centre are. We look at your street before the day, and if the lorry cannot stop safely outside, we plan a shuttle with a smaller van or a longer carry.
How do you get from Altrincham to Hyde?
We leave our Broadheath depot and take the M60 round through Stockport to Denton, then the M67 into Hyde. It is about 20 km in a straight line, and longer by road. We set off early so the crew arrives at the time we agreed with you.
Can you move us up to Gee Cross or Werneth Low?
Yes. The lanes up towards Werneth Low are narrower and steeper than the town centre. Tell us the address when you ask for a quote and we will check the approach, turning space and any tight bends before we choose the vehicle.
We are moving out of a Hattersley flat. Is that a problem?
Not at all. Flats just need a bit more planning. We ask about stairs, lifts and how far the door is from where the lorry can park, then we bring the right number of people for the carry.
Can you store our things if the Hyde sale and the new purchase do not line up?
Yes. We can collect from Hyde, keep your things in sealed containers at our Broadheath depot, and deliver when your new home is ready. There is no minimum term, though most people book for at least a month.
