Z+F Office Relocation With New And Used Furniture
This Z+F office relocation was our second move for the company. It also meant finding new and used office furniture to a tight budget and recycling the old pieces.
The client
Z+F UK, The Laser Scanning Firm In Manchester
Z+F, short for Zoller + Fröhlich, is a German company founded in 1963 in Wangen im Allgäu. It is still family owned. It designs and makes laser scanners that capture buildings, plants and tunnels in 3D.
Z+F UK, whose company name is ZF UK Laser Limited, is the company's UK arm, based in Manchester. It sells the scanners, trains people to use them and carries out scanning work.
Z+F was a repeat customer. CMR Relocation had moved them once before. When they needed to move again, their operations manager, Joanne Maybury, came straight back to us.
The brief
Furniture On A Tight Budget, Plus The Move
The second move came with a furniture problem. Z+F needed more office furniture, but the budget was firm.
Find the right furniture
Source a mix of new and used office furniture, including some specialist items Z+F had asked for.
Stay within budget
Meet a very specific budget, without cutting corners on what the team needed.
Move the office
Relocate the business to its new premises and set it up ready for work.
Clear the old pieces
Take away the furniture Z+F no longer needed and recycle it properly.
How we did it
Building A Furniture List Item By Item
We started by taking the time to work out exactly what Z+F needed, then built a detailed list of every furniture item. That list covered the everyday pieces and the specialist products they had asked for.
With the list agreed, we could look for the best value. Used office furniture is often in very good condition and costs far less than new. Mixing new and used let Z+F get what they wanted within the budget.
We then sourced, supplied and installed the furniture and moved the business. The furniture they no longer needed was cleared and recycled, in line with Environment Agency rules. Today we still offer good used pieces to local charities and schools first, then break the rest into metal, wood and laminate.

What Z+F's Operations Manager Told Us
"CMR Relocation Ltd have just completed our second office relocation in the last 3 years. The first relocation was so successful; I didn't need to look anywhere else! Not only were CMR Relocation extremely competitive on price, they were also very professional and incredibly easy to work with.
CMR also sourced, supplied and installed several pieces of new and used office furniture. The budget was an issue for me but Darrin came in on time and under budget. What more could you ask for?
I would rate CMR very highly and Darrin's commitment to excellent Customer Service and standards is second to none!"
What you can take from it
Getting More From A Tight Office Furniture Budget
Write the list first. A full list of what each person and room needs stops you buying too much, or too little. Our office layout planning can help with this.
Mix new and used. Good used desks, pedestals and storage can free up money for the pieces that matter most, like chairs. See our office furniture supply service.
Plan for the old furniture. Clearing it is part of the move, not an afterthought. Our clearance and recycling service handles reuse and recycling, and crate hire covers the packing. You can also read about the Meridian HealthComms move.
